The Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund has announced the recipients of its 2024 Cooperation Award: renowned illustrator Ilon Wikland and influential businessman Hasse Olsson. The award celebrates their significant contributions to fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between Sweden and Estonia.
Ilon Wikland, a celebrated Estonian-Swedish illustrator, is best known for her work with Astrid Lindgren’s iconic children’s books, bringing beloved characters to life through her vivid illustrations of Ronja the Robber’s daughter, Madita and Karlsson on the roof.
Hasse Olsson, a former editor-in-chief of Dagens Industri, played a pivotal role in launching the Estonian business daily Äripäev, leaving a lasting impact on Estonia’s media and business culture.
This prestigious award underscores their efforts in strengthening ties and nurturing enduring friendships between the two nations.
